Architect Gustavus A Young began his vision of the 126 room-Jefferson Clinton Hotel in 1926. That year a newspaper article in the local paper reported a 10-story hotel w/modern tile showers to cost 1/2 million dollars to build. The hotel would be owned by Mr. Desner who purchased the lot for a reported $125,000.

The following year in 1927 The Jefferson Clinton Hotel opened for business. It catered to the clientele of the D.L. and W. Railroad. The station was located next to the current Ontrack station, adjacent to the hotel.

The hotel also catered to Vaudeville people from Keith's and Lowe's (Landmark) theaters. The hotel had a doorman and bellhops and was operated as a first class establishment.

A 1944 advertisement listed the Jefferson Clinton Hotel as offering 200 rooms, although later listings were reduced to 150 rooms. The hotel went through at least 8 owners between 1943 and 1980; with the highest price sold at $800,000.

Today, the refurbished hotel prides itself on its venerable history, as well as its eco-friendly policies, from the use of "green" products to clean and service the hotel to locally grown organic produce served at breakfast.
